Wayne Mills, Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Vandenberg Village, was our guest speaker at Friday morning’s meeting.

Wayne and his wife Carol recently attended the annual Rotary International Convention in Toronto, Canada on June 23-27, 2018.

The convention took place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre with approximately 26, 500 in attendance. This is a great venue for building new and existing relationships with other Rotarians. Wayne mentioned how the people are friendly, which also leads to great fellowship getting to know each other. Wayne and Carol enjoyed visiting the restaurants and touring the beautiful area.

There were in class sessions with guest speakers on different topics.

Wayne said Laurie Bush was one of the speakers.

First Lady of the United States (2001-2009)
Laura Bush, the former First Lady of the United States, is an advocate for literacy, healthcare, and human rights. One of the most beloved and admired American First Ladies, for decades Mrs. Bush has championed key issues of national and global concern. She has traveled to more than seventy-six countries and has launched groundbreaking education and healthcare programs in the U.S. and abroad. Mrs. Bush is a big advocate of education and literacy.

Wayne said the overall experience was enjoyable and recommended other Rotarians attend a convention. In 2019, the annual convention will be in Hamburg, Germany, and in 2020 the convention will be in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The Rotary Club of Vandenberg Village thanked Wayne for an informative talk.
